Psalm 109
1 O God, whom I praise, do not remain silent
One of my favorite shows is M*A*S*H. One of my favorite episodes is about a soldier that believes he is Jesus Christ. Sidney Freedmen asks him if it is true that God answers all prayers. The soldiers response is a powerful one. He said yes he answers all prayers, but sometimes the answer is no. God is not silent, he is always at work. Sometimes we may not see the whole picture, but we can trust that he is in control.
How many of us have ever felt like God is silent? The reason we believe he is silent is that God has either told us to wait on him or told us no and we do not like the answer that we have been given. When we are going through trials and sufferings we often times turn inward instead of upward. As long as we are so focused on ourselves, and our own situations, we will miss what God is doing all around us. Sin will separate us from communication with God faster then anything else. As long as we have sin in our lives, can we expect God to hear our prayers?
God is not silent, although there are times that we fail to listen to him. So what do you do when you are waiting to hear from God? We must seek him more. This is so hard to do when we feel like he has turned his back on us. We know from the scriptures that he will never leave us and that when we seek him we will find him. The enemy will attempt to convince us that God does not care and that he is far off. He is not far off, he is not silent, he may be just saying wait.
Hi,
It must have been a divine appointment that led me to your blog.
I couldn’t sleep (its 3 am in the morning) and so I went on fb. Just as I was wrapping up my session, I saw the Authentic Blogger page, and your blog. Which led me to this piece.
It’s timely because I’ve been thinking lately that God has been silent to my prayers. I realised after reading your post that it was me who has been distant from God by missing my quiet times with Him and by turning inward and being preoccupied with my worries, as you said.
Thanks for sharing this insight. I will be reading more of your posts. I hope you will continue to bless others with your writing.
God bless.
Regards,
Mary
